Amazon.com Review For avid nature lovers, boaters, or coastal dwellers, this wireless weather station--equipped with a remote wind sensor--is a direct line to sudden changes in weather. The station reports the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius, plus relative humidity for indoor and outdoor locations via a remote sensor. For more accurate outdoor readings, the base unit can receive information from up to three different sensors that can each be placed up to 80 feet away. The weather station records minimum and maximum temperature and humidity readings within a 24-hour period, and recalls them at your prompting. In addition, it has an indoor comfort level indicator that uses happy or sad face icons to let you know if the temperature is at a comfortable level. One of three forecast icons on the LCD displays weather predictions based on changing air pressure, and is about 75% accurate for any 12- to 20-hour time period. The device also shows the current moon phase (of 12 possible phases) and the dew point. This unit also includes a wind sensor, powered by the wireless outdoor transmitter that sends data back to the weather station. The main display reports the current wind speed in miles per hour as well as via a bar graph in the Beaufort Scale. It records the maximum wind gust record in a 128-second time period. The weather station presents the current wind chill and remembers the maximum and minimum chill values for any set period of time. For added convenience, the weather station has an alarm clock with a 12- or 24-hour time mode, snooze feature, a calendar that displays the day of the week and numeric month and day, and a United States map icon that identifies your current time zone. For precise time- and date-keeping, the gadget has a built-in antenna system that receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock. The wireless weather station requires three AA batteries for the receiver, another two for the remote, and mounts on a wall or rests on a table for readouts. This unit is covered by a one-year warranty. Learn more about this weather monitor (WMV). --Cristina Vaamonde

weather station & wind sensor August 7, 2008 La Crosse WS-9035U---Our wind station didn;t work so we called what is laughingly called Customer Service and it took them 6 hours to get back to us. Rose said, "Of course not, you have to mount it 10 ft. above your roof." I said garbage. The wind sensor looks like it came out of a Cracker Jack box. We often get winds up to 75 mph here. And the weather predictor was reading sunny days are here again and it was raining, thundering and blowing outside. Rose told us it predicts the weather 6 hours ahead of time -- by which time it will be dark. Rose also told us that we couldn't use a second station with this although the specs indicate we should be able to. Rose insisted on repeating that LaCrosse wasn't responsible for the write up since I bought it from Amazon. Of course, the folks at Amazon (800-201-7575) told me I couldn't return it for a refund because my 30 days were up. I told him that when I got it we had 6 ft. of snow outside the door and if Amazon sells someone skis in June, you probably can't try them out and see that they have a steel wool finish until December. Amazon is now kindly taking back this garbage but do you know how much time it took my husband and myself to read and understand the directions and then set it up?
Shameless Junk June 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am on my second unit which has been back to the factory, at my expense twice for repair and it still does not syncronize with WWV. Tech support is worthless. No on knows anything about the equipment. AVOID LACOSSE stuff at all cost.
Two years of ownership, then kapoot March 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've owned this station for about two years; it was received as a gift. Overall I was fairly pleased, the wireless range was good and it seemed fairly accurate. Two days ago the sending unit quit sending and all remote information is now blank. I changed the batteries on both the remote and main unit, reseated the cables, all for nothing. So, the unit is broken and basically worthless.
It appears that the WS-9035U is yet another example of 21st century disposable technology. Would like to buy another wireless weather station as I enjoy knowing the current weather conditions, but now I need to research for awhile. No more La Crosse Technology products for me.
Weather Station February 23, 2008 Great product, does what it's advertised to do. Easy set-up, if no signal just pull batteries and start over. Very accurate reading when matched to local tv weather. The smiley face guy is very good at telling you when you got the indoor temp/humid in the right range and the other animation to idicate outdoor trends (bar pressure) is uncanny at predicting the future weather. The hard wire between the outdoor sensors is bit of a pain as you have to run wire between the two, i got just the right distance and turned out OK. Oh, there is another identical (i think?) unit with "TWC" logo that cost $15 more--WHY??
Slight disappointment- otherwise okay February 17, 2008 I should have listened to the other reviews about how finiky the wind sensor is. The unit is reasonably easy to install and get running. My biggest disappointment came with the Wind Speed Sensor; works, then decided not to work one day; then work another. I don't belive the wind speed really is accurate either. That said the other features work well. The forecast is accurate, the temperature is accurate; the hi/lo features are pretty cool and work. I really wish the wind feature was flawless which it isn't. When it works, it is really neat to know what the wind chill is; then the disappointment when it isn't working. If the wind sensor isn't important for you, this is a good unit. While I didn't think it was important, wait until it fails you once you have had it working...
