Amazon.com A great gadget for a boating or camping trip, this battery-powered wireless weather station displays all the pertinent information you'll need and is about the size of a remote control. The station reports the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius and humidity for indoor locations and outdoor locations using a remote sensor. For more accurate outdoor readings, the base unit can receive information from up to three different sensors, which can each be placed up to 80 feet away. The device also calculates the setting and rising times of the sun and the moon for 250 different North American cities and shows the current moon phase. The display shows the current barometric air pressure and access to a 30-hour history is available as well. A forecast icon on the LCD displays weather predictions based on changing air pressure and is about 75% accurate for any 12- to 20-hour time period. The wireless station even has a storm warning indicator to give you ample time to prepare for foul weather. For added convenience, the sun/moon weather station has a clock with a 12- or 24-hour time mode. For precise time- and date-keeping, the gadget has a built-in antenna system that receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock. The sun/moon wireless weather station requires three AA batteries for the receiver and another two for the remote and mounts on a wall or rests on a table for readouts. This unit is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

too complicated! October 30, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unsatisfactory, too complicated and not enough distance from remote and had to change batteries after one month. If you like being fustrated by all means buy this product.
Excellent product for the price! September 20, 2007 Have owned a La Crosse alarm clock, and had no problems ever - time synchronization is flawless. Weather station continues trend with accurate time after overnight synchronization.
This weather station is much more complex product than some, but after several careful readings of the manual, similar in complexity to navigating through a complicated digital watch setup. Basically, try programming it with the manual open, and work your way through the steps. You'll probably have to repeat it a few times, but once done, all is good.
Main unit placement is flexible (wall or counter) and remote works through a concrete block wall. Best result for the remote occurs under an eave (out of direct sun & weather) but not TOO high, to avoid effects from heat being trapped... some planning and forethought required.
I appreciate the solar/lunar rise/set time displays, and my wife, as a migraine sufferer, appreciates the barometer trending and history display - she is better able to anticipate the weather changes, and takes a minor dose of migraine meds if the warning "twinge" that she gets is backed up by a rapid change in barometric pressure. Beats being both in pain AND a "zombie" on meds...
Tracking the barometer and temp with government weather web site and other instruments shows unit has very good accuracy, with less than .5 degree F error, and .01 MB pressure - for a home unit, pretty darn good.
My only [very] minor quibbles are during setup - the limited number of front panel buttons means programming is only in one direction - forward - like a watch - so if you realize that you've made an error, you have to restart and scroll through the options/settings again. Some users might appreciate a glossary of terminology (either in the manual or online). Finally, you may find as I did that the barometer setting may take a few tries to get the accuracy down to the .01 range, due to minor rounding up/down mismatch between your location and the nearby airport (or whatever you use).
Finally, I have to agree with other owners - the alarm idea seems nice, but gets old pretty fast - most people will not use that feature or only at certain times - one useful time might have been (for residents of the Gulf of Mexico) when they went to bed with Humberto offshore...
Overall, double-thumbs-up, and highly recommended.
Just a curiosity August 9, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product does what it advertises. However, it's really not much more than an expensive digital indoor/outdoor thermometer. Everything else is fluff.
Weather Watcher July 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this gift for my fiance as she is an avid weather watcher. From the description it appeared to have alot of features, that I thought she would enjoy. I think it is a good product, and she appears to enjoy having up to date "real time" weather info at a glance. I think it is good for the price. I am considering upgrading to a better more industrial model in the future, but this one serves it's purpose for now. One complaint is that it was not clear if the wireless sensor was included in the box or sold seperately, so I purchased a sensor just in case. No big deal, I installed one sensor in the front of the house and one in the back.
Decent buy June 1, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When it first came out of the box it was pretty good all in neat condition but then when you have to set it up it takes a while because you have to retrieve signal from colorado.Overall this product is good and i do recommend for a good buy.
